Sick and Tired

Ok y'all - I am so sick and tired of Facebook right now that I cannot breathe.  So I have taken a hiatus from that form of social communicating.  I am getting pretty fed up with defending the fact that just because I do not  believe the same way as others that a.) I am not stupid; b.) I am not ignorant (although they are similar); c.) I am not a hypocrite; and d.) that I really and truly do not care what they think.  Whew.

Today while trying to make up my mind whether to delete Facebook entirely or to just take a break, I ran across this great article which sums up my feelings perfectly.  Enjoy.

The Mommy Wars ....

I stumbled across this blog posting today ... it is so true it is scary... I wanted to share with you all.

Before I ever had a single child, I knew I'd one day wage war with an enemy who sought their hearts and souls.  I anticipated battles ahead, knowing my children would test and defy me.  But I never anticipated the Mommy Wars.  I think I watched part of an Oprah episode years ago on moms being too hard on other moms, but that was about it.  I didn't give it a second thought.  Not until I joined the club.

Let me begin by saying, the Mommy Club is a beautiful place.  The moment you join, you find within your heart this unexpectedly raw capacity for love.  All at once, you are a protector, nurturer, a defender of innocence, a story teller, an imagination factory, a kisser of boo-boos, and a cheerleader till the end of time.  Even on the scrape-me-off-the-floor-with-a-spatula days, you are being sanctified and learning to see God's grace in a brand new light.  It is a special club, one I'm humbled and grateful to be part of.

I am the proud momma to the most handsome boy on the planet.  With that being said, his teacher at school took some fun photos of my boy... I share with you now ...

Dairy Queen - East Market

Today I ate lunch at the Dairy Queen. I live in Gray, and have often frequented the Dairy Queen there and I hate to eat their food.  Ice Cream there is not so bad but the food, well, just quite frankly sucks.

My co-worker Kerri wanted to eat cheap today so she talked me into trying Dairy Queen's $5.00 lunch. I was trepadatious about it because of my experience at the Gray restaurant.  I ordered the $5.00 Grillerz Burger with cheese combo and upgraded for $1.00 more for the blizzard.  The burger was done to my liking, tasted great and the fries were hot and fresh.  The store was clean, very clean.  The staff was pleasant and were very polite.  When I went back after my lunch was finished to get my blizzard, they allowed me to change my topping without complaint.

I have to say, for lunch this is a great deal.  You can get in and out in less than an hour, which is great when working downtown.  I would highly recommend it and will go again.

The Main Street Pizza Co.

I have been working in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee for one month tomorrow.  Ever since I have started working here, I have been told I HAD to try The Main Street Pizza Company.  Today, I rose to that challenge.

I was not very pleased with my experience today.  While the food was tasty and served appropriately (hot food hot and cold food cold) the service was slow and unpleasant.  My server never smiled nor acted like he was happy to assist me.  My drink refills were slow to non-existent.  I asked for a diet coke to go and he brought me a coke.  He dropped my check and left and did not come back.  I left my money on the table along with a tip.  Yes, I tipped.

Will I eat there again?  Probably not.  First it was expensive for lunch.  Cheese bread, Caesar salad and a soda was $12.50.   Second, the service was atrocious.  If the place had been busy I would have not thought twice about the slowness of the service.  However, there was only four tables when I came in, two of which were finished eating and leaving.  There were two tables outside, but another server was taking care of them.

I wish this restaurant had been better.  But for me it is a no go again.
